So What Can Fitness Trackers Track?

Fitness Trackers are a modern electronic miracle.  These small devices are able to tell us a ton of information about our daily activity levels.  We can then use this information to help us to increase or maintain our activity levels to reach or stay at our fitness goals.  Some things are measured directly others are "worked out" based on things like your weight, height and sex. The guide below runs through the more common features.

Accuracy is something that Fitness Tracker users can sometimes get hung up on.  Often users will compare a Tracker with an App on a mobile phone , or with a friends Tracker whilst out on a walk.  Most likely the results will not be the same and it can lead to frustration and a lack of trust in the device.

There are many different Brands of Fitness Tracker out there and they have all had to design their hardware and software and make decisions about how they will interpret the measurements they have taken from our bodies.  If they have not done everything the same, the results will not be the same.

Similarly no two people move the same, they may swing their arms slightly more or less when they walk or might be lighter on their feet or any other combination of factors.  So two similar people, wearing the same Brand and Model of Tracker are likely to get different results.

My advice is not to stress about it and focus on hitting your targets, as measured by your tracker!
