You have bought a Fitness Tracker, started working towards your daily step target and begun eating properly. Usually there's initial satisfaction that a few pounds have been lost and all is well.
But then for a lot of us, comes the dreaded plateau. I'm not qualified to say why it happens (and there seem to be many theories) but after a while, the scales show less and less weight loss despite you sticking to the increased activity and better eating regime.
Thats when the worst can happen, frustration. Which can then (and I talk from experience) lead back into reduced activity and back on the non healthy foods.
Of course we know that when we are active our bodies are changing and adapting to the new circumstances they face. So while the scales say no change, our trousers may be looser, so something is going on but its hard to put a number on it. And these days, we've almost got conditioned to see our success resting on a number.
Enter the Skulpt Chisel (www.skulpt.me) a device that can measure and track your body fat% and muscle density for different regions of you body and show you the results on your smartphone.
Looks like interesting technology that can help us visualise whats going on in our bodies in a convenient way and certainly could be more accurate than those often derided simplistic BMI charts or the whole body measurements we get from our scales.
It may help those of us that have hit the plateau to focus on something that is changing rather than get dis-illusioned by something that isn't. And for those individuals that have hit their weight goals and are now focusing on toning, this looks like it will show you if your efforts are really bearing fruit and where to target next.
