I don’t know about you, but for me if I can find a piece of music that that has a good beat that matches my running tempo, I seem to be able to run for longer. So finding the right songs at the right beat is quite important to me.
Amongst the usual data (title, artist etc) that goes with a digital song, is a bpm (Beats Per Minute) field that lists the tempo of that track. If you know the tempo that you run or walk at then you can choose music that matches and off you go. But life isn’t that simple. First, how do you find out the tempo that you run at? Luckily there are many Apps that will detect the “thump” as your feet hit the ground and can work out the Beats Per Minute that these “thumps” make. I use BPM detector (though I have no association with them) which is available on Apple and Android systems.
I've put together a short video to show how I use the App.
